I'm a huge believer that time off is really when our brain turns on and we have our best ideas. This is consistent with academic practice and companies that promote creative mindsets (ie Google) by offering 20% time for the employees and faculty to explore their ideas and innovate. If institutions want to promote innovation, it seems that time off for the employees may confer huge returns.
I have loved this view on how to prepare emotionally for marriage. Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the wedding planning and the future and forget the past and what each one of the people in the marriage brought to the relationship. Premarital counseling would be a great way to talk through these things before there is no more time to talk. I especially love the part about not letting the past haunt you in the future. Knowing things about your future spouse may make it easier to prepare your heart for your fiancé or fiancée and everything they are bringing to the relationship.
