The story behind the discovery of Xtandi by Dr Saywer (Memorial Sloan) and Dr Jung (UCLA) is remarkable. I saw Dr Saywer speak at Society of Urologic Oncology meeting in Bethesda in 2008 and he spoke about the discovery of Xtandi with chemist Dr Jung. The agent had pro- and anti-androgenic properties, but eventually causes anti-androgenic outcome after some interesting physiology happens. UCLA anticipates ~$60 million annually until 2027.
